British Red Cross

The British Red Cross is a humanitarian organisation that helps people in crisis, whoever and wherever they are, both across the United Kingdom and internationally. It forms part of the wider International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement and has been operating for over 150 years. Its work spans emergency response to disasters and conflicts, support for refugees and people seeking asylum, help for people to recover after a crisis, and community services such as first aid education and mobility aid loans. The charity relies heavily on trained volunteers to deliver much of its frontline support, from responding to floods and fires at home to assisting communities affected by humanitarian emergencies abroad. It also raises funds and coordinates aid appeals during major international disasters. Its stated purpose is to mobilise the power of humanity so that people can prepare for, withstand and recover from emergencies.
