Welcome to My Loved Ones ("Mylo," "we," "us," or "our"). By using our website at mylo.family and the services we offer there (together, the "Service"), you agree to these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, please do not use the Service. The Service is operated by the operator of mylo.family, trading as My Loved Ones ("the operator"). For the formal registered-entity details, contact team@mylo.family.
1. What Mylo Is
Mylo is a free platform for making a Legacy Pledge: a public, non-binding statement that you intend to leave a share of your legacy (often around 1%) to a charity you care about. You do not need an account to make a pledge, and making one is free.
A Legacy Pledge is a statement of intention, nothing more. It is not a will, not a codicil, not a contract, and not legal or financial advice. It creates no legal obligation on you, your estate, or anyone else, and it does not change how your estate is distributed. To actually leave a gift in your will, you must make or update a legally valid will with the help of a qualified professional in your jurisdiction.
Mylo also offers free writing tools (for example legacy letters, an ethical will, twelve life lessons, and short pieces of life advice) and educational articles. These are provided to help you reflect and organize your thoughts. They are not legal documents.
2. No Legal or Financial Advice
Nothing on Mylo is legal, financial, tax, or estate-planning advice, and using the Service does not create a professional relationship between you and us. For anything that affects your will, your estate, or your finances, consult a qualified solicitor, attorney, notary, or financial adviser licensed where you live.
3. Making a Pledge
When you create a Legacy Pledge, you agree that:
- You are at least 18 years old.
- The pledge reflects a genuine, personal intention — it is not made to mislead, spam, or impersonate anyone.
- You may pledge under your name or anonymously. If you provide a name, keep it accurate and don't use someone else's identity.
- You understand the pledge is public but is set to noindex, meaning we ask search engines not to list your pledge page.
- You can change your mind at any time. A pledge binds you to nothing, and you can delete it whenever you like.
Keep private details out of public pledge text.Because a pledge page is public, please don't include sensitive personal information such as home addresses, bank or account numbers, or other data that shouldn't be shown publicly. Mylo runs a safety filter that screens pledge text and blocks or removes content that looks like an address, account number, or similar sensitive detail, but this filter is a safeguard, not a guarantee — you are responsible for what you choose to publish.
4. Editing and Deleting Your Pledge
You are in control of your pledge. Every pledge comes with a one-click delete link by email, and you can remove your pledge at any time. You can also email us at team@mylo.family and we will delete it for you. When you delete a pledge, we remove the associated personal data as described in our Privacy Policy.
5. Connecting You with a Charity
Sharing your details with a charity is optional and separate from making a pledge. We only pass your name and email to a charity if you explicitly opt inby ticking the "connect me with this charity" box. If the charity has claimed and verified its listing, we share your details with that charity, and only that charity; if it has not yet claimed its listing, your details are held and not shared until it does (and dropped if it never does). You can withdraw this consent at any time by emailing us or using the delete link in your pledge email. See the Privacy Policy for the full detail.
Mylo is a platform that connects pledgers and charities. We are not a party to any gift, donation, or arrangement between you and a charity. No money ever flows through Mylo — we never take payment from pledgers, and we do not process donations.
6. Free Writing Tools
The free writing tools run entirely in your browser tab. Your drafts are not stored on our servers. If you close or refresh the tab, your draft is cleared unless you have downloaded it to your own device. Please download anything you want to keep.
A limited number of pre-existing paid accounts still have an encrypted vault, where signed-in downloads can be saved as ciphertext. Even then, our servers only ever hold scrambled bytes and never see your plaintext. This is a legacy feature and is not offered to new users.
7. For Charities
Charities can list themselves on Mylo and receive consented leads from pledgers who have chosen and confirmed a connection. Charities are responsible for using any personal data they receive lawfully, including under applicable data-protection law. The platform never takes payment from pledgers, and money never flows through Mylo. Separate terms may apply to charity accounts.
8. Legacy Subscriptions (Closed)
Mylo previously offered a paid subscription (€9.97/month) that is now closed to new sign-ups. New users are not charged for anything. A limited number of pre-existing subscribers remain on that plan; their billing is handled by Lemon Squeezy, and they can manage or cancel their subscription through the billing portal at any time. If you are one of those subscribers, cancellation stops future charges and your access continues until the end of your current billing period.
9. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service for any illegal or unauthorized purpose.
- Create pledges that impersonate others, mislead, or spam.
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the Service.
- Interfere with or disrupt the Service or the servers behind it.
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of the Service.
- Use the Service to transmit harmful, offensive, or misleading content.
10. Intellectual Property
You keep ownership of the words you write — your pledge text, letters, and any documents you create with the tools. We don't claim rights to your content. The Service itself — its design, code, prompts, branding, and materials — belongs to My Loved Ones and is protected by intellectual property laws. Please don't copy, resell, or lease parts of the Service without our written permission.
11. Limitation of Liability
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by law:
- We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service.
- We are not responsible for any decisions you make about your will, estate, finances, or charitable giving. A Legacy Pledge is non-binding and is not a substitute for professional advice or a valid will.
- We are not responsible for the loss of a draft that was only held in your browser tab and not downloaded.
Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes any liability that cannot be limited or excluded by law. This includes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, and any of the mandatory rights and remedies that consumer-protection law in your country of residence gives you. Where the law of your country does not allow certain limitations of liability, those limitations do not apply to you.
12. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we'll revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the Service after changes are posted means you accept the updated Terms.
13. Your Rights and Governing Law
Wherever you use Mylo, you keep the protections your own country gives you. If you are in the EU, your personal data is protected by the GDPR and you keep the rights of your national consumer law. If you are in the UK, your data is protected by the UK GDPR and your UK consumer rights. As a consumer, you can rely on the mandatory consumer-protection rules of your country of residence, and nothing in these Terms removes or reduces any right you cannot legally waive.
For the formal registered-entity and supervisory-authority details that apply to your situation, contact team@mylo.family.
14. Severability
If any part of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the rest stays in full force. The invalid part will be adjusted to the minimum extent needed to make it valid.
