Frequently asked

Honest answers to the common questions

What Mylo is, what it is not, and why we built it the way we did.

Q1.What is My Loved Ones?

My Loved Ones (mylo.family) helps you make your legacy visible while you are still here. You can make a public Legacy Pledge in support of a charity you care about, browse a catalog of charities, and use free tools to write letters, capture life lessons, and put your values into documents your family will keep.

Q2.What is a Legacy Pledge?

A Legacy Pledge is a simple public statement that you intend to leave a share of your legacy — often as little as 1% — to a charity that matters to you, while your family keeps the rest. It turns a private intention into something visible that can inspire others, and it costs nothing to make.

Q3.Is a Legacy Pledge legally binding?

No. A pledge is a statement of goodwill and intent, not a legal document. It does not change your will, commit your estate, or bind your family in any way. If you want to formally leave a gift to charity, you do that in your actual will — we recommend speaking to a solicitor for that step. The pledge simply lets you express the intention early.

Q4.Do I have to pay? Are the tools free?

The Legacy Pledge, the charity catalog, the letter and life-lessons and ethical-will tools, the templates, and the readiness quiz are all free — no account needed. You can write, download, and share without paying anything.

Q5.How private is this? Where is my data?

The free writing tools run in your browser tab while you work — your text is not stored on our servers. When you close or refresh the tab, the draft is gone unless you downloaded it first. If you have a paid account and an unlocked vault, downloads can optionally be saved as encrypted drafts so you can return later; even then, we store only encrypted data, never plain text.

Q6.Is this a legal will or legal advice?

No. My Loved Ones helps you organise your thoughts, express your wishes, and capture what matters — it is not a substitute for a legal will, trust, or advice from a qualified professional. For formal documents, please work with a solicitor or estate attorney; our tools complement them.

Q7.What if I do not have children, a partner, or close family?

The platform still works for you. A Legacy Pledge lets you direct your legacy toward causes you believe in, and the Ethical Will, Legacy Letters, and Life Advice tools are just as meaningful written for friends, a community, a charity, or simply as a record of your own life.

Q8.I run a charity — how do we take part?

Charities can be listed in the catalog so supporters can pledge toward them. Head to the “For Charities” page to add your organisation — it is free to be listed. You get a profile supporters can pledge against and can reach people who have already expressed legacy intent.

Q9.How do I change or remove my pledge?

A pledge is yours — you can change your mind at any time, and it carries no obligation. If you need a listing changed or removed, or have any other question, just email us at team@mylo.family.
