Protecting and managing nature reserves and landscapes across the Netherlands for people and wildlife.
Natuurmonumenten, formally the Vereniging tot Behoud van Natuurmonumenten in Nederland, is a Dutch membership association founded in 1905 and based in Amersfoort. It acquires, protects and manages nature reserves, forests, wetlands and cultural landscapes throughout the Netherlands, safeguarding habitats and the species that depend on them. With a large membership base it is one of the country's biggest nature organisations.
Alongside site management, it opens many of its areas to the public, runs visitor centres and organises activities so people can experience nature, while also campaigning for stronger nature and climate policy. The association holds ANBI public-benefit status and CBF accreditation, and is funded through memberships, donations, lottery contributions and grants. It publishes annual accounts and information on its conservation work.
