Conserving nature and biodiversity and reducing humanity's environmental footprint across Germany and worldwide.

WWF Deutschland is the German arm of the global World Wide Fund For Nature network, constituted as a legally independent civil-law foundation (rechtsfähige Stiftung bürgerlichen Rechts) based in Berlin. Its work centres on protecting threatened species and habitats, safeguarding forests, freshwater and oceans, and pushing for sustainable use of natural resources. The organisation combines field conservation projects with scientific research, policy advocacy and public education campaigns. A large share of its activity focuses on halting biodiversity loss and tackling the drivers of climate change, working both on domestic ecosystems and on international programmes. The foundation is financed largely through donations, memberships and partnerships, and is overseen by the Berlin justice administration acting as the state foundation authority. It reports on its projects and finances publicly and coordinates with WWF International on global priorities.
